Health Canada affirms 2,4-D
-
In May 2008, Health Canada released the findings of an extensive review of 2,4-D, one of the most widely used products in weed control for both residential and farm use.
-
The review looked at all potential environmental and health impacts - including special considerations for children and pregnant women - and found no evidence to support allegations that 2,4-D can cause cancer.
-
As a result of this extensive review, Health Canada has - once again - concluded that Canadians can continue to use products containing 2,4-D as long as instructions are properly followed.
-
In fact, Health Canada has even gone so far as to state that “risks to homeowners and their children from contact with treated lawns and turf are not of concern
-
And it isn’t just the Health Canada.
-
Regulatory agencies around the world, including the European Union, the United States and the World Health Organization, have reached the same conclusions.
