Seed Marketing & Distribution

Since biotech crops were first commercialized in the mid-1990s, global acceptance and approvals have varied, ranging from rapid adoption in the US, Canada, Argentina and China, to low levels of adoption or GM moratoria in some countries. These differences can lead to asynchronous authorizations among key trading countries, which could potentially affect trade. In order to eliminate or minimize these trade disruptions, CropLife Canada members agree to adhere to Canadian regulations to ensure all products receiving authorization in Canada are safe for the health of humans, animals and the environment. Members also agree to meet regulatory requirements of Canada’s key agricultural commodity trading partners, including the United States and Japan, and will seek to minimize asynchronous authorizations.
