Removing obsolete pesticides from our farms

Since 1998 CropLife Canada has partnered with federal and provincial governments, industry stakeholders and farmers to deliver numerous province-wide obsolete pesticide collection campaigns. Through this national initiative, designated AWSA certified ag-retail sites are set up so that farmers can safely dispose of unwanted or obsolete crop protection products for safe disposal at an approved waste management facility during a defined collection period – free of charge!

Saskatchewan
Farmers in Saskatchewan brought in 124,516 kgs of unwanted and obsolete pesticides for safe disposal to 45 designated ag-retail collection sites during the obsolete pesticide collection campaign held from October 23-25th, 2007.

British Columbia
During the recent agricultural obsolete pesticide collection campaign, farmers in British Columbia brought in 9,789 kilograms of unwanted and obsolete pesticides across the province for safe disposal.

Quebec
Quebec farmers returned 56,752 kgs of obsolete pesticides during the recent CleanFARMS collection campaign.

These programs provided a safe, effective and cost-free way for farmers to properly dispose of obsolete products. Thanks to the efforts and support from government, industry, ag-retailers and farmers, we have ensured the proper management of our crop protection products.

For 2008, there are two scheduled obsolete pesticide collection campaigns including Manitoba and Alberta. A complete list of collection locations and campaign will be available shortly.
