Agriculture brings exponential value to Canadians. It makes us healthier, helps to protect our environment and is a significant contributor to our country’s economic well-being. Our industry is focused on creating new opportunities for agriculture through enabling legislation that protects the public and environment, while fostering the development of new plant science technology. If Canada's agriculture industry is to benefit from a bio-based economy, farmers will need new technologies and innovations from plant sciences.
To be competitive, Canadian agriculture must do its part to protect the environment, provide safe healthy and abundant food and embrace innovation. The products developed, made and distributed by CropLife Canada members are playing an evolving role in both the innovation and diversification of Canadian agriculture. This includes new technology for new foods such as healthy alternatives to trans-fats, new fuels such as ethanol and bio-diesel and new and cheaper ways to produce important pharmaceutical molecules in crops instead of labs.
