Mary Wiley is a St. Catharines-based Professional Home Economist who specializes in healthy households and helping consumers make informed decisions. She is also a member of CropLife Canada’s Food Protection Council. Mary, her husband and three children own and operate a 150-acre vineyard in the Niagara Peninsula and are one of the 20 Bees brand Grower Families, proud producers of 100% Ontario VQA wines.

After earning her degree in Family and Consumer Studies from the University of Guelph in 1982, Mary held both provincial and national communication and consumer affairs roles in the agri-food industry. She gained a solid reputation for helping Canadians better understand where and how their food is produced, and the proactive approach Canada’s agri-food industry takes to balanced diet, food safety and environmental issues.

As a Past Chair and Charter Member of Cuisine Canada, and proprietor of Niagara Peninsula Agri-Tours, Mary has helped to pioneer Canada’s regional cuisine movement. She enjoys helping consumers to celebrate our country’s flavours through rural culture, a bountiful array of locally-grown food and beverages, and the vital role their production plays in our economy.

Mary regularly leads corporate team-building cooking school classes at The Wine Country Cooking School at Strewn Winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake and has written for various national, provincial and local publications, ranging from Canadian Living to Niagara Magazine. She writes a monthly food column that appears in the Lifestyles section of the St. Catharines Standard, and other Osprey Newspapers.
